Introduction
Blockchain transactions are irreversible.
If you withdraw funds from Heshket to a wrong address, Heshket is generally unable to retrieve the funds or locate the recipient, as the withdrawal process is automatically initiated once you submit and confirm the request.
This article explains what happens when a withdrawal is sent to the wrong address and what steps you can take in different scenarios.
Why Heshket Cannot Reverse a Withdrawal
When you submit a withdrawal on Heshket:
- The transaction is broadcast directly to the blockchain
- Control over the funds is transferred to the destination address
- No third party, including Heshket, can reverse or cancel the transaction
Because blockchain networks are decentralized, withdrawals cannot be recalled once confirmed.
What You Can Do If You Sent Funds to the Wrong Address
1. You Know the Owner of the Address
If you accidentally sent funds to the wrong address but know who owns the address:
- Contact the owner of that address directly
- Ask them to return the funds to your wallet
Only the owner of the destination address has control over the funds.
2. You Sent Funds to Another Platform’s Address
If the wrong address belongs to another exchange or platform:
- Contact the customer support of that platform
- Provide them with:
- The transaction ID (TxID)
- Asset and network used
- Amount sent
- Destination address
The receiving platform may be able to assist depending on their internal policies, but recovery is not guaranteed.
3. You Forgot to Include a Tag or Memo
Some blockchains require an additional identifier such as a Tag or Memo (for example, XRP and similar networks).
If you forgot to include the required Tag/Memo:
- Contact the customer support of the receiving platform
- Provide the TxID of your withdrawal
- Confirm the asset, network, and amount
The receiving platform may be able to manually credit the funds after verification.
For more details, refer to the article How to Retrieve Crypto Deposit with Wrong or Missing Tag/Memo in the Help Center.
What You Can Do If the Address Is Invalid or Unknown
If the destination address does not belong to any platform or identifiable owner:
- Unfortunately, the funds cannot be recovered
- Heshket is unable to trace or access wallets outside of the platform
This is why careful verification before withdrawal is critical.
How to Avoid Sending Funds to the Wrong Address
Before confirming a withdrawal on Heshket, always:
- Double-check the wallet address
- Ensure the network matches the destination wallet
- Confirm whether a Tag/Memo is required
- Avoid copying addresses from untrusted sources
- Use address whitelisting if available
Taking these steps helps prevent irreversible mistakes.
Important Notes
- Heshket cannot reverse completed withdrawals
- Blockchain transactions are final once confirmed
- Fund recovery depends entirely on the recipient or receiving platform
- Always verify all withdrawal details before submission
