To interact with the Sepolia test network, you must enable or add Sepolia in your wallet. This allows you to send and receive Sepolia ETH and perform on-chain activities on the Ethereum testnet.
This guide explains how to add Sepolia using MetaMask.
What You Need Before Starting
Before adding Sepolia, make sure that:
MetaMask is installed in your browser or mobile app
You have access to your wallet
You understand that Sepolia is a test network and uses test tokens only
Method 1: Enable Sepolia Test Network in MetaMask
MetaMask includes Sepolia by default, but test networks may be hidden.
To enable Sepolia:
Open MetaMask
Click the network selector at the top of the wallet
Go to Settings
Open Advanced
Enable Show test networks
Return to the network list
Select Sepolia test network
Once selected, your wallet will switch to the Sepolia network.
Method 2: Add Sepolia Manually
If Sepolia does not appear in the network list, you can add it manually.
Use the following network parameters:
Network Name: Sepolia
RPC URL: https://rpc.sepolia.org
Chain ID: 11155111
Currency Symbol: ETH
Block Explorer URL: https://sepolia.etherscan.io
After saving the settings, Sepolia will be available in your network list.
How to Confirm Sepolia Is Added Correctly
After switching to Sepolia:
The network name at the top of MetaMask will display Sepolia
Your balance will show Sepolia ETH (if available)
All transactions will be executed on the testnet
Important Notes
Sepolia ETH is a test token and has no real-world value
Transactions on Sepolia do not affect Ethereum mainnet funds
Always verify the selected network before confirming a transaction
Testnet transactions may behave differently from mainnet transactions
